Gitto hand blocked print on silk

We just found this beautiful block print from Indian artist, Gitto. Influenced by Art Deco and Bauhaus styles,  she works largely in print, with Japanese-style Shibori, weaving and embroidery techniques.

“When seen together as different colored dots, they appear very lively and animated,” Gitto says. She dipped a small cylindrical block into vibrant dyes and stamped it on raw silk, creating a varying grid of color and pattern. The dots pop in bright contrast, mounted in an open rosewood frame to expose the fine texture of silk.
