Envelope Pillow

Envelope Pillow by Christian Rathbone

Our head scout just discovered this great looking pillow and brought it back to the studio for all of us to see. Some may think it’s strange that we get so excited over the discovery of an awesome pillow like this one, but we do.

This envelope pillow from CB2 is as cool as it is well made.  Modern take on the kilim pillow craze of the late ’90’s,

“A modern take on a traditional kilim tapestry, this buckwheat-filled pillow was handmade by artisans in the small weaving villages of Anatolia, Turkey. Using centuries-old methods, wool is handspun, vegetable-dyed and hand loomed into open color fields that reveal subtle variation from dyeing in small batches. The artist’s geometric design is a 3D representation of an everyday object—the envelope.

Designed by Christian Rathbone it’s inspired by a diverse range of sources—from surrealism to traditional Turkish design. Working often in pencil to create his graphic designs, he favors visual references so familiar to everyday life that they are often overlooked. Transforming these elements through geometry and color, Rathbone creates new perception through a modified lens.”
